Bravery Training 101
Â
What is bravery?
Bravery is moving in your fear. It acknowledges fear as a personal and evolving experience, and helps people practice taking action through it.
What is bravery training?
Bravery training is the intentional and repeated practice of taking action outside your comfort or competency zones. Because fear is personal, the reps you take (and the bravery you build) are personal too.
Why is bravery training relevant?
Bravery training is relevant because it directly addresses what scares you. As humans, we will always experience fear — and that fear will change and grow over time. Bravery training gives us structured opportunities to practice meeting our personal fears and, over time, to nudge and expand the edges of our comfort zones.
How do we know bravery training works?
Our approach is grounded in research, refined through more than 500 sessions, and rooted in practices that transform fear into action. We know there are three reliable ways people get more brave (and confident), and we design our experiences to provide a high level of reps that amplify bravery in the face of fear.
By the Numbers
Since 2016, we've activated all kinds of people, working to build a database to help us understand what scares them and the most effective ways to help them build their bravery.
Our Programming Design
We integrate potent scientific concepts (growth mindset, identity, belonging, goal-setting, etc.) into our programming design to make the experience for people valuable, transformative, and joyful.
Our exercises are custom-made.
Our Activators are expertly trained.
Our programming is deliberate.
There are 3 Ways to Get More Brave
Our sessions integrate all three of these ways into activities that warm-up, practice, and fortify a brave skillset.
Honesty with self
Personal reflection with fidelity only to the truth.
Take brave action
Getting outside of your comfort zone - even just a little bit.
Witness brave action
Seeing someone do something you're scared to do or you know they're scared to do.
Practice your bravery RIGHT NOW with our Brave Journal. With summaries of our findings and over 180 questions, exercises and challenges, this Journal gets you right into the work.
Ways to work with us
The core of our work remains consistent across all groups, but we tailor every Brave Session to optimize the experience for your people.
Signature Brave Session
A Signature Brave Session is a comprehensive experience anchored in Brave’s core programming. Participants build and express their story, identify and map a meaningful goal, and connect with others in the room.
Our Signature Session typically runs 90 minutes to 2 hours, but can be adjusted based on age, location, and objectives to fit formats from 45 minutes to 6 hours.

Brave
Modules
Brave Modules focus on specific components of building bravery, such as curiosity, self-talk, self-evaluation, fear as a cue, identity, comfort zones, and more.
Modules can supplement a Signature Brave Session or stand alone. Each module runs 20-60 minutes (virtual or in person) and can be stacked or blended to deepen skill-building and enhance the overall Brave experience.
Â
Mix
& Match
Brave content can be expanded into half- or full-day programming, embedded into sports practices, or combined with multiple modules for multi-day delivery.
Build your own Brave experience to:
- fit your group size and facilities
- achieve specific performance or culture goals
- illuminate or enhance an existing event or retreat
- create an experience that sparks pride, connection, and camaraderie

Who do we work with?
Our programming is as dynamic as the people we work with — from pre-K to gray. While our clients span a wide range of ages and environments, most fall into three main categories:
